Currency conversion and FX fee calculator

An FX spread is the gap between the mid-market exchange rate and the rate a bank or provider actually gives you, and it works like a hidden fee.

Convert an amount at an exchange rate you enter, then see the effect of FX spread, percentage and fixed fees. Not a live rate feed. Runs in your browser.

Questions

Does it use live exchange rates?
No. You enter the exchange rate yourself, so the result is an indicative estimate — check the current rate from your bank or payment provider before quoting.
How are the spread and fees applied?
The FX spread percent reduces your rate to an effective rate, the amount is converted at that rate, then the percentage fee and fixed fee are deducted in the target currency.
Is my conversion data sent anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
What does a 0.75% spread cost on 1,000 USD at a rate of 83.5?
The effective rate drops to 83.5 × (1 − 0.0075) = 82.87375, so 1,000 USD converts to 82,873.75 INR instead of 83,500, a cost of 626.25 INR before any other fees.
