Questions

What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit after variable cost and overhead, shown as a percentage of discounted revenue; markup compares discounted revenue to variable cost alone. The same price therefore produces two different percentages.
How are break-even units calculated?
Fixed overhead is divided by the per-unit contribution, which is the discounted price minus unit cost, and rounded up to whole units.
Are my pricing numbers uploaded?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
If an item costs 700 and sells for 1,000, what are the margin and markup?
Profit is 300. The margin is 300 ÷ 1,000 = 30% and the markup is 300 ÷ 700 = 42.9%. A 30% margin always needs a higher markup than 30%.
