VAT in each country
The UAE and Oman charge VAT at 5%, Bahrain at 10% (since January 2022) and Saudi Arabia at 15% (since July 2020). Qatar and Kuwait had no VAT in force on 30 October 2026. A resident business must register when its taxable supplies over 12 months pass AED 375,000 in the UAE, SAR 375,000 in Saudi Arabia, BHD 37,500 in Bahrain or OMR 38,500 in Oman.
There is a VAT calculator for each country: the UAE VAT calculator, the Saudi VAT calculator, the Bahrain VAT calculator and the Oman VAT calculator.
Tax invoices and e-invoicing
A UAE tax invoice shows the words "Tax Invoice", the supplier's TRN, a sequential number and the VAT amount in AED, and must be issued within 14 days of the supply. The UAE tax invoice generator lays these out. UAE e-invoicing starts on 1 January 2027 for businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more and on 1 July 2027 for others; from then a PDF is not a valid invoice for businesses in scope.
In Saudi Arabia every tax invoice must come from a compliant e-invoicing solution under ZATCA's FATOORA programme. The ZATCA QR code generator encodes and decodes the five Phase 1 QR fields, and the e-invoice viewer reads UBL invoices, including ZATCA and the UAE's PINT AE.
End-of-service pay
In the UAE a private-sector worker with a year's service earns 21 days' basic wage for each of the first five years and 30 days for each year after, capped at two years' wage, with no reduction for resignation. In Saudi Arabia the award is half a month's wage for each of the first five years and a month for each year after, based on the full wage, and it is cut to a third or two thirds when a worker resigns with under 10 years of service. In Qatar the minimum is three weeks' basic wage for each year.
The UAE gratuity calculator, the Saudi end-of-service calculator and the Qatar gratuity calculator apply these rules. Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait are not covered.
Currencies
The dirham, riyals, Bahraini dinar and Omani rial are pegged to the US dollar (AED 3.6725, SAR 3.75, QAR 3.64, BHD 0.376 and OMR 0.3845 per dollar), and the currency converter uses these pegs when you leave the rate empty. The Kuwaiti dinar is pegged to an undisclosed basket, so it has no fixed rate. The Bahraini dinar, Omani rial and Kuwaiti dinar have three decimal places, and invoices in them are calculated to the fils or baisa.
