Questions

What does a UK payslip show?
The employer's and employee's details, the pay period and pay date, each payment and deduction with its amount, gross pay and net pay. This generator also prints the NI number, tax code and year-to-date figures when you fill them in.
Does it calculate the tax and National Insurance for me?
No. You enter the deductions from your payroll. To estimate a year's income tax, National Insurance, student loan and pension for a salary, use the UK salary and employer cost calculator.
Where do I put the NI number and tax code?
In their own fields. They print in the payslip header next to the employee's details. 1257L is the usual tax code for 2026/27 for someone with the standard Personal Allowance.
How is unpaid leave shown?
If you enter fewer days worked than working days, the slip deducts pay pro rata and shows it as an unpaid leave line. Leave the two equal when there is no unpaid leave.
Can I add year-to-date figures?
Yes. Enter the year-to-date gross and net pay and they print under the totals. The tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April.
Is the payslip data uploaded anywhere?
No. The payslip is made entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Payslip details are not kept as a draft.
