Article 54 sets a floor of 3 weeks' (21 days') basic wage per year; a contract can give more. The law does not say how to turn a monthly wage into a daily wage. The result uses basic ÷ 30, the market practice and the higher of the two common readings; some employers use basic × 12 ÷ 365. Both are shown.
There is no cap in the law. Qatari nationals are covered by the social insurance (pension) law, not Article 54. If an employer pension or provident scheme pays more, the worker can choose it instead of the gratuity.
The employer may deduct amounts the worker owes, and the gratuity can be lost on dismissal for misconduct under Article 61.
This follows Article 54 as last published; no amendment is known to us. Confirm the current text with the Ministry of Labour before relying on this figure.
