Registration thresholds apply to resident businesses. Non-resident suppliers generally must register whatever their turnover when no one else in the country accounts for the VAT.

A 2026 amendment to the GCC VAT Agreement makes 5% a minimum rate and lets each state set its own. No state had announced a change by 30 October 2026.

Examples

Add 15% VAT

SAR 1,000 net: VAT SAR 150, total SAR 1,150.

Extract VAT from a total

SAR 1,150 including VAT: net = 1,150 ÷ 1.15 = SAR 1,000, VAT SAR 150. At 15%, the VAT is 3/23 of a VAT-inclusive price.

A price ending in .99

SAR 99.99 net: VAT 99.99 × 0.15 = 14.9985, which rounds to SAR 15.00, total SAR 114.99.

An invoice from before July 2020

Supplies before 1 July 2020 were taxed at 5%. To recheck one, choose Custom rate and enter 5.

Questions

How do I remove 15% VAT from a total?
Divide the total by 1.15 to get the net amount. The VAT is the total minus the net, or the total × 3 ÷ 23. SAR 2,300 including VAT is SAR 2,000 net plus SAR 300 VAT.
When does a business have to register for VAT in Saudi Arabia?
When its taxable supplies over 12 months exceed SAR 375,000. It may register voluntarily from SAR 187,500.
What is FATOORA?
ZATCA's e-invoicing programme. Since 4 December 2021 tax invoices have had to be generated by a compliant e-invoicing solution, and since 1 January 2023 taxpayers have been brought into the integration phase in waves: standard (B2B) invoices are cleared by ZATCA before issue and simplified (B2C) invoices are reported within 24 hours.
Can I issue a Saudi tax invoice from this site?
No. A Saudi tax invoice must come from a compliant e-invoicing solution as signed XML with a ZATCA-issued cryptographic stamp. A PDF from a browser tool, even with a QR code on it, is not a ZATCA e-invoice; use it for quotes and estimates.
What goes in the QR code on a simplified tax invoice?
The seller's name, VAT number, invoice time, invoice total and VAT total, encoded as TLV and Base64. The ZATCA QR code generator encodes and decodes those five fields.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
