Sales tax is set by states and localities
Forty-five states and the District of Columbia have a statewide sales tax; Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon do not. Many counties, cities and special districts add their own rates, so the total depends on the delivery address, and groceries, clothing and services are often taxed differently from other goods.
The US sales tax calculator applies each state's 2026 rate plus the local rate you enter. Treat the result as an estimate and check the rate for the exact address.
Invoices and pay stubs
The US invoice generator prints on Letter paper, shows your EIN if you add it, and puts sales tax on each line. The pay stub generator lists earnings, taxes and deductions with year-to-date totals.
For 2026, employees pay Social Security at 6.2% on wages up to $184,500 and Medicare at 1.45% with no cap, plus 0.9% Additional Medicare Tax on wages over $200,000. Employers pay the same 6.2% and 1.45% again.
Pay rates
The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, and states with a higher minimum apply theirs. At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks a year there are 2,080 paid hours, which the salary to hourly calculator uses to convert between hourly, weekly, monthly and annual pay.
