Free tools for UK businesses
Calculators and document makers for UK VAT, payroll and late payment, using the 2026/27 rates from HMRC and GOV.UK, which the Budget of 28 October 2026 confirmed.
Every tool runs in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded. Each calculator shows the date it was last reviewed and links to its sources.

VAT
The standard rate is 20%, the reduced rate 5% and the zero rate 0%. A business must register once its taxable turnover passes £90,000 in a rolling 12 months, or is expected to pass it in the next 30 days, and may deregister below £88,000. Both thresholds stay the same for 2026/27 and 2027/28.
The UK VAT calculator adds or removes VAT at each rate, and the UK VAT invoice generator shows your VAT registration number, a VAT row for each rate and the total excluding VAT. Domestic electricity in Great Britain is zero-rated from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027; Northern Ireland and gas stay at 5%.
Payroll and the cost of an employee
For 2026/27 the Personal Allowance is £12,570, with income tax at 20%, 40% and 45% in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and six bands from 19% to 48% in Scotland. Employees pay National Insurance at 8% between £12,570 and £50,270 and 2% above; employers pay 15% above £5,000. Auto-enrolment pensions need at least 8% of qualifying earnings, of which the employer pays at least 3%.
The UK salary and employer cost calculator puts these together for one salary, and the UK payslip generator prints the payslip with the NI number, tax code and year-to-date totals. Eligible employers can cut their NI bill by up to £10,500 a year with Employment Allowance.
Late payment
A business paid late by another business can claim statutory interest at 8% above the Bank of England reference rate, plus fixed compensation of £40, £70 or £100 depending on the size of the debt. Bank Rate was 3.75% on both reference dates in 2026, so the rate is 11.75% for debts that became overdue this year.
The UK late payment interest calculator works out the daily interest, the total and the compensation for one invoice.
Payments to and from the EU
Northern Ireland businesses that trade goods with the EU use VAT numbers that start with XI. The VAT number checker checks the format of GB, XI and EU numbers, and the IBAN validator checks UK and European IBANs before you pay or invoice.
